SIROPEN {SIRUP KHAS SURABAYA}
Featured on 21 March 2014
This was my school project last semester. The brief is to redesign the label of a beverage and make the secondary packaging of it. Then i chose Siropen as the beverage to be redesigned. Siropen is a special syrup originally from Surabaya since 1923. It has many variants of flavour such as lychee, orange, coconut, etc. But they name the flavor with special name that contains the elements of Javanese itself like Cocopandan Rahayu, Sri Leci, and Jeruk Keprok Rahayu.
My concept is to bring the vintage spirit of Surabaya in 1923 back. I chose the hand-drawinng style as the main illustration to make it close enough as the design at 1923 that mostly use a hand-drawing style. And i mixed between fruits and the historical icon of Surabaya as the graphic elements. The historical icons i used are Tugu Pahlawan, Monumen Kapal Selam, and Hotel Majapahit. It may bring back the feeling of Surabaya as known as the City of Hero. It also reminds people to visit that historical icon sometimes and to introduce the historical icon to any tourists.
The colors i used are based on the colonial movement in Indonesia that time, red, white, and blue, those are the colors of Netherland's flag. Orange, red, and yellow to represent the characteristic color of the fruits.
Here are the secondary packaging
