Batik is recognized as part of Indonesian culture, with the variety of patterns and colors, from the classic with historical and philosophical background, to those influenced by other cultures such as Chinese and European, with more vibrant colors. In October 2009, UNESCO had inscribed Indonesian Batik as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
