October, Day 01/31: "The Coffee Cup" // Have you checked out the first day of Inktober? I just checked it and they already did great. Last week, I was thinking about joining the crowd. But then, nope. I'm better stay with #vector. So, instead of ink, I decided to have myself a challenge with #vectorwork during this October which will also become a practice and style exploration on creating #icon and #illustration. I've done a search on #vectober. Some people had already initiated it and I think I will also go with that hashtag for this project. And for the start, a steamy #coffeecup icon to celebrate the #InternationalCoffeeDay!

October, Day 02/31: "The Juicy Watermelon" // One of the fruits I'm having in my unintentionally #healthy and #happy #diet recently. I'm still trying to get used with colored line. Mostly, I use it for shading and complementary colors. This time, I'm trying to bring it in as an #outline for the watermelon #icon.

October, Day 03/31: "The Flying Book" // Good morning! It's already Monday here. Today I tried to simplify the book I'm going to read into this simple book #icon. It's not the actual look. The real cover is plain red. I added up some yellow accent to the icon to make it less plain.

October, Day 04/31: "The Paper Boat" // "Smooth seas don't make good sailors," and so the saying goes. It's been raining a lot more than usual here, a perfect time to sail some paper boats. Who knows, a great (paper boat) sailor will be born on the rainstorm. The paper boat #icon was inspired by a work posted by @inipagi some weeks ago. This time I had a little bit play on color blending on the #boat and also on the use of small particles to create the sparkling #sea #water.

October, Day 05/31: "The Falling Leaf" // It was inspired by @itskaridesign's series of #autumn icons that she's been sharing on her feed. Autumn colors have been one of my favorite palettes though I've never experienced the season. Seeing the post last month on my first day back, it excited me to create something with similar theme. The #icon is supposed to be a #leaf this time but it seems to be working well as a #feather as well. By the way, I just realized it yesterday that my previous posts somehow got a bit blurry. It wasn't quite visible on the first icons but became very clear on the dark outlines of the paper boat. And, yes, it's unintentional. I thought it was on my phone but it seemed the problem was on the files I used for posting. I've had it fixed for today's post and the following. And thanks to @kangkikur for noticing me about the blurry pic and suggesting the solution right away!

October, Day 06/31: "The Creative Bulb" // Ideas are in the air. And that's it. Catch them while you can! A simple #bulb to start a busy Thursday.

October, Day 07/31: "The Ancient Scroll" // There's a time for everything, even for the old ones to come out as a new new. Inspiration is unpredictable. Some said that it comes in every direction. But, who knows, it could travel through time as well. The #icon was inspired by a 20 years old #document I found in the library months ago. It seems that being old doesn't always sound bad, or does it?

October, Day 08/31: "The Pudding Volcano" // It's erupting strawberry jam and is edible all the way the climb. I've been posting mostly outlined icons on the first week of vectober, so today I decided to give a chance to the flat. I think #pudding will do just good to start a weekend. Have a good time resting your weary bones!

October, Day 09/31: "The Serious Sock" // Even the simplest problem could turn into a complex one when you put too much weight on it. So could a single sock #icon. It's Sunday. Take some break.

October, Day 10/31: "The Icy Joy" // It's #sweet but doesn't keep you warm. Definitely not recommended if you're having a cold Monday morning like I'm having here. This time I tried combining the style I used on the Creative Bulb and the one on the Pudding Volcano with some development. Can you guess what I did to create the icy effect? It's the same technique I used on the darker-blue part of the Serious Sock #icon yesterday.

October, Day 11/31: "The Serene Yolk" // Hi, guys! It's a bit late than usual today. On yesterday's ice cream, I used color blending to give the icy effect on the #icon's edge. I also used the technique on the colored part of the Serious Sock and on today's #yolk / #sun as well. Can you spot it?

October, Day 12/31: "The Clumsy Chick" // It's almost a half way. I never planned of doing Vectober when I decided to go back to Instagram. The thought came to mind when I saw Jake Parker's Inktober rules on my feed. And that's how it started.

October, Day 13/31: "The Wandering Balloon" // At last I made it to post something right before bed. I've been having a rough and busier time today, never feel this grateful just to be able to post a picture of a hot-air balloon. Continuing yesterday's post, my idea of vectober is to create an #icon or #illustration of any object and post it every day on Instagram during October. It's that simple. But along the way, I found it a good challenge to allow myself experimenting on some styles and developing the style I already use.

October, Day 14/31: "The Weekend Kite" // It's good that it's already weekend.

October, Day 15/31: "The Waving Flag" // Days have been more crowded than usually it is lately, need to do my best to keep up with the challenge. Glad that I made it. So, here's today's #icon. I decided to use some geometry as I did on the ancient script last week, made it a bit different in a flat style with dual tone colors.

October, Day 16/31: "The Jelly Anchor" // Good evening! The weekend is about to end here. I hope everyone's having a good time. Today's #icon was intended to be another experiment with blue shades. I really enjoyed using less color. It can be tricky and difficult as I limit the #blue shades on my personalized palette to only a few and I'm still working on being consistent with it. But difficult means challenge and that's my point of vectober. And then just before I finished with the anchor, came an idea of putting a #fish around it. I think a bit of context, together with the contrast of the orange shades, could be good to the overall of the picture.

October, Day 17/31: "The Tiny-Mini Redbus" // Today I had a little experiment with light and shadow on flat style, trying a new technique I've never used before (the diagonal shadow), having so much fun creating the bus #icon. It's almost midnight here. Have a good night!

October, Day 18/31: "The Smoky Mountain" // Living in #Yogyakarta is like living in a heaven of inspirations. I mean, you can go anywhere just to get inspired! One of the few things I usually do to find inspiration is to ride my bike around the town or uphill. Seeing more than I always do in front of my computer does help me pushing the refresh button in my head and light up the dimming creative bulb. This #icon was inspired by #Merapi volcano that I saw a few months ago when I was having a ride uphill. I need to catch up on something this evening, so I decided to create something more simple than yesterday's red bus. It's also a practice on using #thickline. I never really liked thick lines when I started using outline on most of my works months ago. Being used to work with flat shapes and thinner lines makes me uncomfortable with the bulky look. But as I had to face some work using thicker lines than I usually work with, I found it challenging and fun to use some lines with more weights on my works.

October, Day 19/31: "The Dancing Twister" // Just a couple of minutes before midnight here. I hope everyone's having a good night! This time is another try on thick lines. Arranging some lines to create the twister look, and then put some particles and also the shadow. Voila!

October, Day 20/31: "The Glowing Moon" // Tonight I decided to have another experiment on the colors I used yesterday, some bright shades of grey from my palette. It's sometimes surprising to see what you can do with limited color.

October, Day 22/31: "The Soft Rocket" // Hi, everyone! Hope you have a great weekend. Today I have a little experiment with gradient. I think it's the first time I use gradient in this series.

October, Day 23/31: "The Half-Dipped Submarine" // I missed yesterday's post, so here's the second one for today. Another play with gradient.

October, Day 24/31: "The Enchanted Lighthouse" // Magic happens when the light is on. It's one of my favorite buildings. Its distinct look, together with its function to show the way and at the same time to be a good sight at the shore, has somehow made it irreplaceable. I had another small experiment on gradient and also on making the illustration remain simple and keeping the focus on the lighthouse despite all the particles.

October, Day 25/31: "The Cloudy Time" // It flies...

October, Day 26/31: "The Floating Ramen" // ... and so does a bowl of ramen. I've been having an experiment recently, comparing the work I did in the morning and the one at night before bed time. I created this bowl of ramen this morning, while the previous hourglass was just a couple of minutes ago. I found out that creating something in the morning is better than doing it this late.

October, Day 27/31: "The Weather Forecast" // Just a few days before October ends. And once again I'm enjoying myself using this style that I first use on the red bus more than a week ago.

October, Day 28/31: "The Air Force" // Back to the basic style: #outline. Sometimes the challenge is not to create something new from scratch but to combine new found ideas with the old ones. It's as simple as that but the results might be surprising. I was clueless when I decided to use #paperplane for today's Vectober. It's a simple object that has been commonly used. So, I have myself a challenge to make it a bit unusual. I came up with the idea to give it a smoke trail when I referred to yesterday's post and that's how it turned out to be the #paper jet.
