In the tutorial I used the SAI app version 1 ^^
The initial stage I usually rough sketch, because I'm the type of person who trouble lineart neatly, so from the sketch just give it a new layer under the sketch, then we color it.
[actually digi paint can be a breakthrough for my friends who like neat lineart, seriously it's really cool when I'm used to it ^^]

Basically if I personally I usually start base color, continue to pay attention
'' where is the lighting part where is the shadow part '' from the reference photo"
Understandably I'am still able to learn so I cannot imagine" without reference.
so I started to take colors from the base for example "pink from her shirt" if the part of my shirt got light. The color instensity of the pink base color I raised earlier, is directed towards the right / left, the important color we take later is not to stay away from the base color.

well, after all the parts that must be exposed to light, the same shadow. before blending use [blur / airbrush / brush / watercolor] we tidy up the color, maybe something is stained, just delete it a little, tips from me using 'density' eraser 80 or about 70. well after it feels neat, just stay in the blending, "remember, my friend, the blending must detail each part, do not immediately use a large size, swept into 1 part.
(for example the clothes, you broom blending everything, don't do it! Also pay attention to the blend near the shadow and the lighting)
