This is the painting that I submitted for my Mid-Term Test and 4th assignment: Portraits. This is the face of (the late) Ms. Teresa Teng (Deng Li Jun), a celebrated Cantonese-Pop singer in the 1970's-1980's. I wanted to re-paint her face as I don't want to paint a modern-day, well-known celebrities, as of course most students will don. I painted her because I love her: her beauty, her voice, and her attitude. The title of the painting comes from one of her most famous, classic hits from the 1970's in her early career day. The song "The Moon Represents My Heart" (Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin) is one among some of her first hits that became a big success in the era, and led her to stardom in almost all parts of Asia. The portrait was traced from one of her album arts when she already moved to Japan, but styled in a different style that once she used in a studio photoshoot: white attire, with baby's breath adornment in her hair, matte red lipstick, and mint background.
