AFTERMATH'S "SEVEN EIGHT SIX" ALBUM ART

When the band came to me, they already have a concept for their album cover. the concept is to portray bunch of Saracen Warriors being surrounded by some kind of 'demon warrior' from hell. Also, the canvas is kinda wide because the art will be folded into 3 parts. so i did this initial sketch as a 'game plan' before i move further to the next process. We all need plans after all, right? *pulls out sword*

Long story short, they accepted the initial sketch, so i move further to the rendering process. in this piece, i was using Black and White coloring method. that means, i rendered the whole image in black and white only, before i color the image in the next process. this way i can pay more attention to the details and light settings since the band wanted this piece to be 'dramatic' and 'detailed'.

After the black and white rendering phase, i moved to the next phase, the coloring phase. i layed in some warm dark blue color to portray a 'dark and cold' feel in the scene. also, i added the logo previously created by the band, and the album title below.

Hello, my name is Leo Avero, i'm a freelance illustrator living in Indonesia. Here, i'm going to show you the process behind the illustration i did for Aftermath's "Seven Eight Six" Album. Heavy Metal is a part of my life, for me it's a music that really makes you feel like an Alpha male. so i trully had a lot of fun, and beard, and hair, and testosterone, and more hair working with the guys from the band.
