The Tale of Purbasari by Rizka Irjayanti (caqi),concept art, seni digital, digital painting, ilustrasi
Purbasari is a popular classic folklore which came from West Java but mainly known as the female heroine of Lutung Kasarung story. As a college assignment for Bahasa Rupa class, I tried to re-illustrate the intriguing point in Purbasari's story which shows how she transform into a beauty once again by washing her body in the magical lake.

After being cursed by her own sister with black blotches all over her body, Purbasari sought comfort through the forest and met a monkey named Lutung Kasarung. She was devastated by how her skin had become and couldn't bear the sad feelings. Though the forest animals tried to cheer her up, nothing seemed to matter anymore to Purbasari.

Seeing that, on one fateful night, Lutung Kasarung tried to meditate and suddenly a pool of water emerged from the ground, forming a pristine and sweet-smelling lake. Later on, he told Purbasari to wash herself on that lake. Purbasari dived into the lake. Her body was gleaming from the magic within that lake and her blotches vanished one by one.

When she got out off the lake, all of her blotches were gone as if she was never been cursed before. She celebrated it with smile and happiness. Seeing Purbasari happy, Lutung Kasarung can't help but to feel relieved and also happy for her. Purbasari once again became a beautiful princess just like before and went back to the palace.
